Oh man, September has been great so far! I think the month has been greatly aided by the arrival of two dear friends to Chicago. Actually, I suppose it was still August when they arrived, but spending time with them has made this month great. I kind of already knew this, but recent weeks have confirmed this, I always feels o much better when I am around people (duh?) This summer I have definitely gotten better and have developed some loner tendencies (baking and cooking really help to fill the time) but I still like having people around to bounce my personality off of, if that makes any sense.
It doesn't hurt that the city has some awesome things to aid a girl trying to make it here. Last week I went to an amazing and free Andrew Bird concert at Pitzker's stage in Millennium Park. I've got to come clean, I knew nothing about Andrew Bird before the day of the concert, despite him coming to Grinnell in my time there. I loved the concert though. The music was great and it definitely didn't hurt to have Emily and her great roommates there to pass the time. Another offering of the city: the Lake Front Trail. I have know about the trail all along but had been to afraid to really try it out. Again, to come clean, I've been quite afraid to ride my bike in general because of all of the crazy scary traffic. But yesterday I finally got off my duff and onto my bike seat and high tailed it to the Lake Front. Once I got past the scary traffic, it was amazing! The trail goes along the lake, as you might have already guessed, and it is all park land. I went for about ten miles plus the distance to and from the lake. Maybe that was overkill for my first real bike ride of the year, but whatever, I couldn't help myself.
Finally, September marks the arrival of a new cousin! Welcome to the world Drew!
