See, I told you August wasn't going to be as interesting. Okay, that actually hasn't been true at all, i've just been delinquent with my postings.
First, an update on the visitor parade. Aaron came last weekend on his way to football camp back and Grinnell and I like to think he enjoyed his visit. I finally went to Summerdance for the lessons (they have free dance lessons and live music) instead of just goofing around like when the fam visited. We explored downtown, went to the beach and even tried out the Italian Festival on my street, even though it was kind of a dud. Since the Olympics were on, we watched quite a bit of that on my computer (I don't have a TV). At times, watching the Olympics on a TV has proved frustrating because you miss out on the big acts, but on the flip side you get to watch exciting sports that you might not otherwise have seen. Case in point: badmitton is hilarious. Especially after a glass of wine and someone to laugh with you.
I have now been in Chicago for two months, which seems both longer and shorter than it feels. Progress continues to be made on the roommate front: since my last post elusive roommate number one and I have shared our first conversation and our first laugh (today!). Strangely, I haven't seen elusive roommate number two for almost two weeks though i know she's alive because I see her light on. Progress lags at work, though my boss seems impressed with the work I make up for myself. This week I am going to a conference which i think will be exciting and energizing.
Remember how in my August post i talked about the trauma of the start of school? I have to try really hard not to dream up ways to get myself to Grinnell, but it might just happen anyways.
