coffee shops

Have I ever told you about my love of coffee? Or that i also love coffeeshops?

Okay, maybe i have, i'm not going to read through all of my old entries to actually find the answer to that question, but if you didn't know that about me, maybe you should take a second and look over the title of this blog one more time...'cause yeah, it's true.

Well, today i am writing from a coffee shop that is only two blocks from my apartment and shamefully this is the first time that I've been here in the two plus months that we've lived nearby! Shame shame. Well, being here has made me remember the love and i thought i would share it with everyone else as well.

I started drinking coffee when I was either 16 or 17 when one early morning before band practice (so early!) my mom knocked on the door to my room and handed me a thermos full of brew mixed heavily with milk and vanilla syrup. Apparently she thought it was time for my initiation into the world of coffee and I've never really looked back since. Sure, in those early days it was more of a homemade, super-sugary latte than a real cup of coffee but by the time i went abroad to Costa Rica all of the locals thought i was loco for sipping their national beverage straight up. "Cafe negro? En serio?" Yep, seriously, and that's how I like it even now. (Well, mostly, a latte with a hint of vanilla has also been known to make me weak in the knees.)

But the dream continues! After working in coffee shops through out high school and especially in high school, I was hooked into the atmosphere of it all also! I now hit up coffee shops much less often than i used to (it all comes back to money doesn't it?) but maybe that just makes me appreciate it all the more when i do come! The shop by my house is quite unique: part coffee shop part print store. I can't help but think how wonderful it could be to have my own coffee shop! Sigh, there would be comfy chairs, and books for browsing (or buying?) and dark roast coffee for all!
