Easter

To celebrate a dual holiday (Disco for you Grinnellians, Easter for the rest of you) i made a trip back to the home state this past weekend, and i must say it was a great success.

As usual, i was greeting in grinnell with open arms, first by Aaron, then by the girls water polo team and then by all the other great people that i still know on campus. It didn't hurt that the weather was amazing on Saturday and that Iowa provided much more green-ness than my little apartment across from a gas station. Just ask poor Aaron, I spent the day walking around saying, "nature, nature, nature." I also squeezed in a trip to the Tanger outlet mall in Williamsburg and made a scary, adult purchase of a suit that i intend to use for the interview that I am sure will start pouring into my life now that i am properly attired. Lucky for me, Banana Republic was having a 40% of sale so it wasn't as scary (read: expensive) of a purchase as it could have been. Of course, they didn't have the long pants that i needed in that store but i was able to order them from a different location and they already arrived, yay!

For Easter itself, we all went to the 10am service which, though crowded, was full of adorable toddlers in their Easter fancy clothes. The little girls with their skirts full of tulle were especially adorable. Although the weather wasn't nearly as nice, Mom, Dad, Aaron and I took a stroll around Raccoon River park and even got in some off-trail exploring. Nature, nature, nature!

Then, to surprise everyone, the family decided to by a Wii on Sunday afternoon. After never having video games growing up, it was a little unnerving to see the consul sitting in the living room, but i think it will be a lot of fun. It's a sad fact that after never having video games growing up, I am quite bad at many of the games (all of them except boxing).

I turned it into a three day weekend and had a nice quiet bus ride back to Chicago yesterday. It was a rainy day so maybe the bus was the best place to be; i managed to read about 300 pages on the bus ride alone. Now that Easter is over, it's time to wait for real, warm spring and more green!
