Books!

I've decided to post my reading list for several reasons. First of all, I love reading but I've been a little stalled on my most recent selections so I thought reviewing all of my old reads might reenergize me. These are the books that I've read since moving to Chicago. Second, I think it reveals interesting things about me. Please, feel free to judge. And finally, it's my blog! I'll do what i want! I've included a few fun facts along the way. (Oh yeah, if you are interested in a review or my opinions on any of them, i can totally provide that too)

Empire Falls, Richard Russo

Coyote Summer, W. Michael Gear

Water for Elephants, Sara Gruen --> was written in a month as part of National Novel Writing Month which I am thinking of doing http://www.nanowrimo.org

The Inheritance of Bliss, Kiran Desai

The Color Purple, Alice Walker

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows -->only the second time I've read it, I swear! At 759 pages, HP7 is the longest book on the list

One Hundred Years of Solitude, Gabriel Garcia Marquez

A Long Way Gone, Ishmael Beah

How to Be Good, Nick Hornby

Fight Club, Chuck Palaniuk--> read in six hours on a trip from Grinnell to Chicago

Rifles for Watie, Harold Keith--> I've lost count of the number of times i've read this book...maybe ten.

The Human Stain, Phillip Roth

The English Patient, Michael Ondaatje

Richistan: A Journey Through the American Wealth Boom and the Lives of the New Rich, Robert Frank

The Dud Avocado, Elaine Dundy

The Risk Pool, Richard Russo--> The second Russo book. Earlier this month I went to a reading of his at the Chicago Public Library and he signed a copy of his newest book (Bridge of Sighs) for me.

Twilight, Stephanie Meyer--> Read in one day. You should be judging, this book is about teenagers and vampires...

New Moon, Stephanie Meyer--> Read in one day, keep judging!

Lullaby, Chuck Palahniuk

Wuthering Heights, Emily Bronte

March, Geraldine Brooks

Heat, Bill Buford

And because I really am a dork and because i was brain washed during all of the summer reading programs at the west des moines public library so that I keep track of these things, that all totals about 7,500 pages.
