more book lists!

One of my unofficial goals in my first year out of school was to read a lot of books. Now that year mark has come and gone, I would like to report on my success. During my first year in Chicago, I read 52 books, approximately 19,000 pages. I posted the first portion of the list months ago, so here is the post-December list:

Eclipse, Stephenie Meyer-- another vampire book

The Year of Eating Dangerously, Tom Parker Bowles --Camila's son

We Are all Welcome Here, Elizabether Berg

Breaking Dawn, Stephenie Meyer

Eat, Love, Pray, Elizabeth Gilbert

The Misfits, James Howe

The Fiction Class, Susan Breen

People of the Book, Geraldine Brooks

Reasonable People: A Memoir of Autism and Adoption, Ralph Savarese-- one of the few nonfiction books, but very interesting

Mainstreet, Sinclair Lewis-- an oldie, but a goodie.

The Hour I First Believed, Wally Lamb-- have I ever mentioned that I love Wally Lamb? His new book definitely continues that trend. The book is huge, but definitely worth it.

Bridge of Sighs, Richard Russo-- Ditto on Richard Russo. He is maybe my favorite author, maybe he and Wally Lamb are a tie. This book is definitely worth the time input and his other novel Empire Falls is high up on the list of my favorite books ever.

Lewis and Clark: In their Own Words, George Sullivan-- read for a pen pal program I was doing

Gilead, Marilynne Robinson

Skeletons at the Feast, Chris Bohjilan

Dreams from My Father, Barack Obama

Devil in the White City, Erik Larson-- I first read this for a poorly planned (but awesome) book club years ago, and this time i finished it!

Outlander, Diana Gabaldon-- a very silly (but awesome) series that Dad got me started on...I already told you about the vampire books so I suppose i can tell you about this series too.

Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet, Jamie Ford

Dragonfly in Amber, Diana Gabaldon

I'm a Stranger Here Myself, BIll Bryson

King Kong, Delos Lovelace

A Lesson Before Dying, Ernest Gaines

Truth and Consequences, Allison Lurie

Voyager, Diana Gabaldon

Jewel, Bret Lott-- An Oprah's bookclub book, which doesn't necessarily mean anything, but i really enjoyed this book.

Kaaterskill Falls, Alegra Goodman

Alentejo Blue, Monica Ali-- This is a book by the wonderful author i mentioned in my previous post. I think the book could have been better but i still really like the author.

Drums of Autumn, Diana Gabaldon-- See? I just can't get away from this series...I've decided to just finish it off to really get it out of my system.

And there you have it! The evidence of all of my excessive reading. On to the next batch of books!
